Adam & Carla’s Rustic Wedding
Adam, Carla and family wanted a ‘fun, relaxed, outdoorsy’ wedding. Life threw some challenges into the planning phases, but everything came together on a gorgeous sunny September afternoon.
Set in treed surroundings, the grounds of the Dewinton Community Hall provided a lovely backdrop for the outdoor ceremony, bridal party and family photos. I had scoped out a lovely back road scene about 20 minutes west, giving us soft mountains (there was a bit of a forest fire/heat haze), lush greenery and beautiful southern Alberta scenery. Didn’t plan on the film crew and racing bikes that passed through, but they added some entertainment – including one rider who shared their new anniversary!
I absolutely loved the floral bouquets & rustic centrepieces laden with Eryngium (Sea Holly) – one of my perennial favourites. They looked like they’d been gathered fresh out of a lush Alberta garden with soft sage greens as accents. A very talented aunt provided the gorgeous wedding cake.

Timing was everything because three days later Calgary got nailed with two freak snowstorms and accumulations of over 45cm, resulting in school closures, power outages and thousands of downed & broken trees! (Perfect editing weather!)

Awwh! Kissing Grandad! 🙂 The cake’s a bit special too.
I do love a wedding, Suzan. They look a wonderfully happy pair.
They had a great day! And to know that cake was done by a hobbyist made it even more amazing!)
